Pics from the weekend

We finally made it back from our weekend near Duluth on Lake Superior and all I can say is that I can't believe the natural beauty of that place. The mammoth lake, the cliffs, the trees, the rivers and the falls...it's all pretty breathtaking.

Commander and I decided to spend his birthday in a tiny dollhouse for the weekend, which was actually pretty fun. Everything was on a miniature-sized scale, and since Commander is 6'5", he had quite the time ducking through the doorways and sleeping on a teeny bed. The views from our cabin were amazing. Nothing but blue sky and lake as far as the eye can see. Every night the caretakers of the property made a bonfire for all the renters to congregate at. We cooked out, let the dogs run wild, and drank way past dark. It was interesting and weird, all at the same time, to get to know strangers to quickly. It was sad to have to say goodbye to our new friends.

Here's a shot of our cabin at night:

We went hiking every day and saw some really cool waterfalls like this one:

We shopped, dined and drank in Canal Park in Duluth - we wanted to catch up on some college football games. My mom and I were texting each other back and forth over the Notre Dame game. Unfortunately, Commander had to hear second hand how the Huskers did - Duluth isn't interested in Big 12 games apparently.

And even when I'm strolling on railroad tracks, a girl likes to have her shoes match her purse:

That looks so awesome! My grandmother was from Duluth, but sadly I've never been. Maybe someday.

Cute shoes! Glad you both had a great weekend and I had a giggle thinking of your giant sized husband sleeping a miniature bed.
